A COACH operator and a modelling agency have joined forces to find the next Kate Moss or Lily Cole.
National Express and Storm have launched a nationwide search for models on coaches and at coach stations.

The approach follows that of shows like X Factor, which have revealed untapped talent in the UK. Some of the biggest names in modelling have been spotted in the most ordinary of places. Supermodel and fashion legend Kate Moss was spotted by Storm's managing director Sarah Doukas at an airport.Teenage young actress Kate Jarvis, who starred in the Hollywood film FishTank, was first noticed on the National Express C2C service at Tilbury railway station.

Among the search model helping to promote the campaign is Rebecca Thompson from Washington. The 18-year-old, who has just completed her A-levels at Central Newcastle High School for Girls, is taking a gap year to try her luck at modelling before going to university.She has signed up to Storm, and was spotted while on public transport in Newcastle.

And despite the claims the repeated, and repeated claims that this is a petite season, where all the contenders are 5'7 and under, this feels a whole lot like every other season. It’s deja vu all over again, times 14, plus screaming. The next name that I’m going to call is fashion teenage modeling casting hour. Let’s do this!

Yeah, if you’ve ever been to the Internet, you know that this 13th cycle someday that term will shed its menstrual connotations, but today is not that day is for the shorties, the fashion models who would never be tall enough to break through into high fashion modeling any other way. For the record, though, I’m not sure that 5'7 really counts as petite.

And then the fun started! And her name is Amber, and lo, she is crazy. She was crying just minutes past the opening credits. Has she told you yet about how much she loves Jesus, and how she’s going to use teenage modeling as a platform for said love?

More than 100 devoted fashionistas and curious onlookers braved the oppressive heat Saturday afternoon to attend the Street glam trend fashion show on Ellsworth Drive, checking out the latest styles in comfortable street clothes and glamorous evening attire — all commercial models have modeled by local talent.

While the show did feature special guests, including "Project Runway" designer Korto Momolu and former Redskins running back Brian Mitchell, the true stars of the event were the 33 models, all of whom were local residents selected during commercial modeling casting calls held on Ellsworth, according to Downtown Silver Spring Marketing Manager Lillian Buie.

"Our goal is to highlight our merchants, to highlight the fashion trend that we have right here in Downtown Silver Spring," she said. "Using local models was a part of that; we exposed them to the greater fashion models community and maybe helped get them hooked up with some of our local designers."

Michael Momb, 22, of Fort Washington, remembers being stopped by casting representatives while hanging out on Ellsworth with his friends about a month ago.

"My friend said ‘Mike you should try this, you're good at it,' and I said, ‘yeah, sure,' like, as a joke, but she put all my information down and made me do it," he said with a laugh. "I walked for the judges, and I was wearing just a plain T-shirt with ripped jeans, but they liked me and here I am."

Casting judges representing local modeling promotion businesses selected the fashion models from more than 600 applicants and people pulled off the streets of Silver Spring, according to Buie, who spotted Meron Desta, 23, of Silver Spring during one of her weekly strolls in downtown and pulled her into an audition.

LIKE your average teenager, Mina Imsirovic fits in friends, gym and a part-time models jobs on top of her studies and begs lifts off her older sister.

But unlike most 17-year-olds, she made an estimated $7000 last week.

The Brighton Secondary College year 11 student was one of the top faces at the L'Oreal Melbourne fashion modeling festival, which wrapped up yesterday.

Ms Imsirovic appeared at eight parades during L'Oreal Melbourne teenage modeling festival: both Myer shows, Country Road, Metalicus, Bonds, two Fashion Collections and a Chadstone Shopping Centre event.

In between catwalk commitments, she managed to fit in shooting a stills campaign for Northlands Shopping Centre.

The year 11 student took off a week from her college studies to meet the demand.

"As long as I let the school know on time - before fashion teenage modeling week begins they're very supportive," Ms Imsirovic said.

According to her agent at FRM, she has had interest from Paris, Milan and New York.

But the level-headed teen, who wants a career as a psychologist or accountant, says modelling will wait while she finishes school.

The brunette beauty, who has been fashion modeling for 2 1/2 years, said the life of a model was not as blessed as many would imagine.

"It's a great job but it isn't as glamorous as model people think it is," Ms Imsirovic said.

"There's a lot of work to do in a very short time span, so you have to get it all done quickly."

Ms Imsirovic's days usually begin at 5am and she doesn't get home before midnight.

She can do up to three models shows in one day, and she catches public transport to each job when her sister is not able to drive her.

The other hours are spent rehearsing, in hair and make-up or on the catwalk.

Now that the hard work's over, Ms Imsirovic is back to school - but with a hefty hip pocket.

The fashion industry has come to Berlin this week, with the German capital hosting four major fashion events. Millions are being made, thousands have come to take part. But it's not high fashion that's making all the money -- a trade fair is coming to the rescue of German designers.

In Berlin, a city of casual creativity and sensible civil servants, there are not too many wildly dressed women wearing high heels. But this week the central streets of the German capital have been alive with the clickety-clack of designer heels. The bold, the beautiful and the fashion-obsessed have been in town due to not one, but four fashion models events taking place in the German capital this week.

This is some of the most frenetic fashion trade show activity the city has seen for years. There are three trade fairs dedicated to the garment industry running between July 1 and 4 -- Premium for the fashion industry in general, Boudoir, a lingerie trade show and Bread & Butter, a streetwear trade show. And at the same time Berlin is also putting on its bi-annual fashion week, during which local and international designers show their wares on runways around the city.

And although it might seem like Berlin Fashion Week is the most important and glamorous of the four, it's actually Bread & Butter that will draw the most international visitors and likely do the most business. This year there will be around 567 exhibitors -- including big name brands like Nike, Adidas and Levis as well as a vast multitude of smaller brands -- showing at what is the largest "urban-wear" industry fair of its kind in the world. The first day's figures indicate that around 25,000 visitors attended. Between 40,000 and 80,000 visitors are average for the event, with just under half expected to come from outside of Germany this year.

Bread & Butter's new venue has also been a draw card. The trade fair started out in Cologne, moved to Berlin in 2005 but left for four years in Barcelona due to lack of space before being enticed back onto home ground by Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit.

Part of the reason for the return was the mayor's promise that organizers would be able to use Tempelhof, a historic former airport built in the 1920s, as a site for their event for the next 10 years. This led some locals, who believe the airport should be a UNESCO World Heritage site, to protest outside the trade fair.

Meanwhile, local designers and garment industry insiders have expressed nothing but joy over Bread & Butter's return. After some secrecy on the planned dates for Berlin fashion Week -- which is run by IMG, a New York producer of fashion weeks around the world -- organizers revealed that their event would be held at the same time as Bread & Butter.

Erin O'Connor Auctions Wardrobe

Erin O'Connor is auctioning off her wardrobe tomorrow evening at Christie's, all in the name of fashion models.

The supermodel, currently the face of Marks & Spencer, will put on the auction block thirty items from her wardrobe. Proceeds of the sale will go to initiatives of the British Fashion Council to assist young model picture designers.

Also benefiting from the auction is the Model Sanctuary, O'Connor's pet project. The Model Sanctuary is actually a quiet space in London where bikini models can relax, eat healthy, and seek support and nutritional advice.

"model girls started modeling when they're so young," she says. "They come straight from home where their mum has cooked for them and are suddenly expected to look after themselves. Of course, I had problems when I started: I didn't receive malicious treatment but the pressure to work can outweigh concerns about health. You can't force someone to be healthy, but I hope we show them that health is worth investing in and they can use the lessons throughout their lives."
